In a team led by Prof. Min Shin at UNCC, we are helping to develop a tracking software that will automatically track objects in video. The novel aspect here is that the software will be easy to use, with a graphical interface, and no programming experience required; it will also be able to track multiple objects that are interact or overlap (obscure each other), and it will include an optional manual correction step. We believe that these features are all essential for widespread adoption of a tracking software by biologists, and particularly for analysis of videos of social insects.
If you are interested in such a software, please fill out this survey. If you add your email address to the survey, we will let you know when the software is ready for distribution.
